Life has been very busy for us these past few days. Both my hubby and I have not had much time to cook. Like many households, we also stock up on box & TV dinners. It is nice to have them available for a quick and easy meal to prepare for the family.
Last night, my hubby made the Hamburger Helper Philly Cheesesteak. I was in our home office while he was cooking and got very hungry when I smell the aroma. I usually eat my food with rice but my hubby told me that I should first try eating the Hamburger … Read the rest

Yesterday our friend gave us these peppers. We bought two dozens eggs, but we received five peppers and a squash as a bonus. I was not expecting them to bring the peppers because we still had a few left that we bought from the store. If I had known earlier, we wouldn’t have bought peppers from the store. My husband is planning to use these peppers for stuffing and baking and I was thinking also of cooking bihon with beef or pork so I can mix in the red, yellow and green peppers. He likes bihon also and next time … Read the rest
My husband picked some of our neighbor’s crab apple. The neighbor said that we can pick as much as we want. Even though my husband doesn’t like crab apple because it’s sour but I do like it so much. It reminds me of home and feels like I’m eating a sour mango from Philippines. Many of you doesn’t like the crab apple but I do. It’s the only fruit that I found here that is close to the sourness of green mango. I don’t care if you will call me crazy because I’m eating tart fruit but I just want … Read the rest
Sardines are not my favorite dish but yesterday I had been craving them :D. My hubby doesn’t like the kind of sardines that I like because of the tomato sauce in it. I bought a couple of cans of hot and spicy sardines a few weeks ago and stocked up the cupboards. One of the reasons that I bought sardines was to mix them with rice noodles. That may sound yucky to most people here but to Filipino’s it’s a one of a kind dish. I remember the first time I cooked “bihon”, my husband really said it smelled really … Read the rest
These are the fruit that we bought for the New Year. In my native country we call it “palihi” so we have a fruitful new year. It is a tradition there. We ate some on New Year’s Eve. Another part of our New Year tradition is rattling coins in a can. Both my hubby and I did that. I woke him up just to rattle the coins. I think it rattled him because he seemed annoyed.
What I did last New Year’s Eve might be considered superstitious. I really don’t believe in those things because God has His own plan … Read the rest

The eggs in the trays have different shell colors. Do you know why? Because we did not buy them from the store. We bought them from our friends who raise their own chickens and they have many different breeds. These eggs are fresh from their farm.
My husband and I are big consumers of eggs. We make omelet and I sometimes mix them in noodles. They are yummy … Read the rest
